Sister Hummel
Do not stop doing Hummel Annual Plates forever? Need 2005 For the girl?

The family of my wife has collected and published on the wall plate Hummel for each family member Birthdays three generations of games. When my daughter was born in 2005 we could not find a 2005 Hummel Plate everywhere. We heard Hummel has stopped production of these plaques. When my sister had her son in 2006 showed the same response. Does anyone have information If these plates are again or any opportunity we were looking in the wrong place? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

GOD I hope

Peace through Tourism

It is amazing to think that elephants sought higher ground immediately before the tsunami struck the coasts of Asia on December 26, 2004, when there was no technology in the form of a detection system alert early may prevent the loss of human lives … more or less, said a spokesman for the Ministry of Tourism of Sri Lanka. I can not say with certainty. I was not there. It was dry and safe in Varese, Italy at the time, and far from Pound Ridge, New York, where the hail.

I had the honor of being one of many panelists at the International Institute for World Peace through Tourism, held in Pattaya, Thailand, an organization of conferences dedicated to exploring ways in which tourism can and must promote peace. I was one of the only Western and it was surrounded by ministers, MPs and others dedicated to sustainable tourism and tourism peaceful.

During I was talking about the strategies that companies in Western tourism has been used to fight against terrorism and natural disasters in the U.S. and Europe recent years, my fellow panelists from Sri Lanka, Uganda, Cambodia and South Africa, to name a few, examined how terrorism, internal armed conflicts, war and poverty have an impact on their lives and their families and their countrymen. Among a group panelists at breakfast one morning, I was the only person who did not have refugee status to a point in my life. In Since I changed houses and land, has been entirely through choice and the search for a new experience and I know nothing to flee for my life or the lives of my children. My colleagues across the sea, however, have been counting the years, and in some cases, months, days, hours and minutes of peace.

It's amazing to me that the more I exposed through travel and interaction with people from other countries, most I feel ignorant. Like most people I know people who live in other parts of the world does not share the same standard of living than I do, but I knew that the main cause of death among children around the world of dirty water. I do not know that my colleagues in Jordan receives water once week, but my colleagues Jordanian women have virtually no glass "ceiling" that keeps them professionally. I did not know that there still cold storage containers on the shores of the Andaman coast in Thailand, containing the bodies unidentified beings one after the crash of the waves and I knew that great policeman trawlers and fishing are still miles from the sea where they are against buildings, but otherwise upright, as in dry dock at the wrong place at the wrong time.

What is sustainable tourism and how the Western world can help our brothers and sisters in the less developed regions to solve problems that affect the fragile economies, dependent on tourism? And how can we, as tourists, to promote peace when we Travel? So many of us as individuals and public and private, to give money. Is this how to ensure that families and businesses after traumatic episode linked to terrorism or natural continue to survive? Apparently, based on what I saw and heard here, that despite our display of compassion shown by our generosity, it may not be the answer. Homes donations to the tsunami, for example, but no hint of culture, personal and spiritual, was vacant. Boats built by donations tsunami was inactive on the banks beurocratic clearance wait before they can be used by Thai fishermen. money from the tsunami in Sri Lanka is not used as the administrative offices of Sri Lanka in charge managing money, are in a region of the country which is ruled by a paramilitary unit is not recognized by the United States or United Kingdom.

The best answer seems to be an example in the petition that I heard repeatedly of His Excellency Akel Biltaji, Special Advisor to His Majesty King Abdullah II of Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, HE. Mr. Ziad Al-Bandak, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities of the Palestinian National Authority, Ibrahim Yusuf, Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia, and James Lu, president of the International Hotel and Restaurant, to name a few. The way to be part of sustainable tourism in each country, for the average tourist is a "return". This means – to return in Bali and Jordan as soon as possible after the recent bombings in hotels frequented that were rebuilt after the tsunami, but still not full, eat fish caught by local fishermen who are served in restaurants and buy local crafts of indigenous peoples. The how to be part of the movement of "peace through tourism" should be an ambassador of his acceptance, traveling with an open heart and an open mind, and showing respect in our words, behavior and interaction with people of all cultures. "Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry and narrow of mind, "said Mark Twain. In this age of terrorism, a fact that Mr. Twain probably never contain the words more true than ever have been say. In general, do not hate people who understand, and we have no reason to destroy what is not hate.

As I went around Khao Lak, Thailand, a region that has been almost completely washed from the map by a wall of water, I also recalled the words of Francis Ford Coppola, "Time is the lens through which dreams are captured." As my goal captured the images of hotels, local businesses and houses in ruins, I think both capture the ghosts of people coming and going of these thresholds. But, also won the dreams of the people of Thailand to rebuild their land. Dreams have been caught in a lasting peace to the people of Sri Lanka, including the internal armed conflict to an end wept because they have lost almost all weapons and ammunition in the wave. And that caught my dream for us all in the Western world to revisit this world of smiles, elephants, pristine beaches, Buddhist temples, limestone caves, blue skies and calm waters.
